Over the past year, the housing committee has worked on a new policy for the future of housing in the City of Middletown. After each meeting, the video of the discussion and the presentation for that meeting were posted on this blog and placed on the city website. The Housing Committee has finished their work and has recommended a new housing policy for the city. Their final product was presented at a public hearing yesterday at council.
With council’s adoption of this plan, the new housing policy will be folded into the city Master Plan, which encompasses all aspects of future plans and aspirations for Middletown over the next decade. We expect the completed Master Plan to be formally adopted by council by the end of the year.
I want to thank all the members of the housing committee for their active participation in making this plan come to fruition. This has been a long-term issue for our community and this plan will help balance our housing stock and provide competitive, desirable housing options for future generations of Middletown.
