With Spring around the corner and events starting up again around Middletown, I’ll go back to making my Monday post a listing of events taking place in Middletown each week.

Wednesday, April 5, 2017 | 4:30pm – 6:30pm
Cooking Classes at Central Connections.

Sous Chef Karen Reed of Central Connections Catering and Banquet Services will teach cooking classes from 4:30 to 6:30 PM in the Central Connections banquet center at 3907 Central Ave. in Middletown. Cooks of all skill levels and ages are invited to take part in the cooking lessons.

Participants will learn to prepare delicious dishes in the fun and friendly atmosphere of Middletown’s adult center. The cost of each class is $5 per person, which includes a sampling of finished dishes and recipes.

The cooking class dates and menus are:
• April 5: BLT rosti (a Swiss hash-brown pancake with bacon, lettuce, tomato and avocado)
• April 12: pecan-crusted tilapia with lemony fennel-arugula salad.

To register call 513-423-1734 or stop by Central Connections’ Welcome Center. The deadline to register is one week prior to each class. Each class will require a minimum of 10 registrants.

Chef Karen Reed has a degree in applied culinary arts from the Art Institute of Cincinnati and a background in catering for large groups and in event planning.
Central Connections, a nonprofit senior center in Middletown, Ohio, and a United Way Agency Partner, promotes whole-person wellness and serves the needs of adults over age 50 with nutritious meals, movement classes, transportation services, health screenings, recreation, volunteer opportunities, and social and educational events and programs. First Friday – Downtown Middletown

 Join us the First Friday of every month when your downtown Middletown neighborhood businesses, boutiques, eateries, & galleries keep their doors open late, just for you!

Explore all the new faces and places downtown, visit with your neighbors, and have a great time! The fun is from 5-9 p.m., we hope to see you here in downtown Middletown!

The Downtown Middletown DORA District, Ohio’s first designated outdoor refreshment area, is in operation from 6 p.m. to Midnight Thursday, Friday & Saturday nights. For more information about how the DORA works, and the boundaries, click here.

April first friday: hometown heroes

Help us celebrate Middletown’s own Hometown Heroes! Spend an evening with our Police & Fire Department and First Responders! Police cruisers, fire trucks, k-9 units and more will be there. A chance for the community to meet & greet the men and women who protect us every day. Kids young and old are encouraged to dress up like their favorite heroes!

 Bull’s Run Park Work Day

Join in helping us as we remove invasive plants like honeysuckle, plant native seedlings and clean up the park for Spring!  Bring work gloves if you have them, we supply the tools and snacks!   All ages are welcome, many hands make light work!

 Community Easter Egg Hunt
Join in on the first of two free community Easter egg hunts at Sunset Park. This is open to the public. The egg hunt is for children up to the age of 12.
