Happy Thanksgiving

To all of our residents, have a great week and a Happy Thanksgiving.  I’m blessed with an amazing wife, six great kids, their significant others, and six grandchildren, so the Adkins’ house will seat about 25 or so on turkey day.

I’m taking the rest of this week off to be with family, so I won’t be blogging much this week.

I hope you enjoy your holiday with family and if you are crazy enough to go out and deal with the crowds on Black Friday, (which many of my girls are!), be safe and come home with great deals.

Buy Middletown when you can, our local businesses appreciate your support.

Happy Thanksgiving!

  1. HI,

I AM WRITING IN RESPONSE TO THE ARTICLE IN LAST
    SATURDAY’S MIDDLETOWN JOURNAL RE@ A PROPOSED
DOG PARK IN MIDDLETOWN. AS A RESIDENT OF THE
SUNSET PARK AREA I WAS ONE OF A GROUP OF RESIDENTS
WHO BANDED TOGETHER BACK IN 2010 WHEN LES LANDEN
WAS ACTING CITY MANAGER TO OPPOSE THE IDEA OF A DOG
PARK BEING PUT IN SUNSET PARK.

I AM STILL OPPOSED TO THE IDEA FOR THE SAME REASONS:
SUNSET PARK IS CLOSELY SURROUNDED BY RESIDENTIAL AREA
AS IS THE OLD ROOSEVELT SCHOOL SITE WHICH IS ADJACENT
TO THE PARK. IT IS A QUIET, PEACEFUL NEIGHBORHOOD WHOSE
PROPERTY VALUES AND QUALITY OF LIFE WOULD BE ADVERSELY
AFFECTED BY A NOISY, SMELLY DOG PARK RATHER THEN BE EN-
HANCED BY IT. IN ADDITION THE OLD ROOSEVELT SCHOOL SITE
IS A STEEP-SIDED BOWL THAT WOULD NOT MAKE A SUITABLE
AREA FOR DOGS TO RUN FREE (OR ALLOW THEIR OWNERS TO
BE ABLE TO KEEP AN ADEQUATE EYE ON THEM). THE PARK
SPEAKS FOR ITSELF WITH ITS TENNIS AND BASKETBALL COURTS
AND PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT. SUNSET PARK IS A PLACE FOR
FAMILIES TO BE ABLE TO TAKE THEIR CHILDREN TO AND BE SAFE
AND SHOULDN’T BE MADE OVER INTO A PLACE TO LET DOGS
    RUN WILD.

    SINCERELY,
    GISELLE RUSCHER
