I’ve had the pleasure for several years of working with Berachah Church on their Hands and Feet ministry projects. They’ve done several “Complete Makeovers” of area houses to help families who needed a hand up. The results are always impressive and each time they added another renovated house to the City’s housing stock for the future.
This year they outperformed even their high standards. If you have time soon, take a trip over to Lefferson Park to see Elley’s Playground. Phase I, a handicapped accessible Playground, is a 7,500-square-foot playground equipped with a rubber play surface that interlocks. I was privileged to be at the ribbon cutting on Sunday afternoon. Next year, the plan is to build another playground on the site, this one for able-bodied children.
The handicapped user-friendly playground is a gem to be added to our public park system, and I commend Berachah for their vision and heart in putting this project together. It is a park that is badly needed by our handicapped children, and it should bring people from the surrounding region to Middletown to utilize the park facilities.
Nicely done, Berachah… nicely done.
